Our Investor CPP Investments

Established in 1997, CPP Investments is a professional investment management organization that invests the funds not needed by the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) to pay current benefits on behalf of 20 million contributors and beneficiaries. By 2025, the CPP Fund will grow to be about $564 billion, and more than $1 trillion by the end of 2035.  This scale allows CPP Investments to participate in some of the largest transactions in the world and seek the best possible investment opportunities wherever they may be.

In order to build a diversified portfolio of CPP assets, the Fund invests in public equities, private equities, real estate, infrastructure and fixed income instruments and has investment holdings in 55 countries. Headquartered in Toronto, with offices in Hong Kong, London, Luxembourg, Mumbai, New York City, São Paulo and Sydney, CPP Investments is governed and managed independently of the Canada Pension Plan and at arms’ length from governments. At September 30, 2020, the Fund totalled C$456.7 billion.
